From Mid to: BT (aka The Dude)
I don't think you give yourself enough value.
Thank you for being a good friend. Thank you for letting me understand you as a whole, but also thank you for understanding what's on my mind without forcing me to do anything. I know how much you look down on yourself, and how everything you look around might make you question your worth. So here I am telling you you're worth all the effort. Even though I have to give you some personal space, this is to show you that you're my friend. You were there when I was in the lowest of lows, and even though most of it was because you identified with my thoughts, knowing you understood me made me feel better, because all in all, that is what I need, more than anything.
If someone told me to describe you in one word, here's my word: "knowledge". You know a lot about the business, and people just seem to ignore that just because you're not the biggest fan of their idols. You know a lot about how things work on the inside, and people don't see this part of you. Of course we can be critics, of course we can say that not everything is ok, and they don't see that in you. I do think you need to understand those you're trying to explain things on your perspective in order to get the best of them, and if you feel that no matter what you do or say you can't get through them, I understand if you don't want to insist. I know I do learn a lot from you, and I don't know if you learn anything from me, but I hope I had a positive impact in you in some way. Though I am not the biggest fan of your sense of humor, I am a fan of your knowledge, and even if sometimes I may seem uninterested, it's probably one of those days I want to be on my own, but don't let that take your enthusiasm to talk about what you love with me, even if you can't do it with others because they refuse to understand what you're trying to tell.
I don't know when it's your birthday, I don't know which days are more meaningful to you, which means I'm sending this on a random day, but the least this can do is make you understand that you're worthy. As a friend, as a "teacher", as an "opponent", as someone who understands my mind better than anyone, and I learned that by talking to you. Even if sometimes it's not the best day to have a talk, or even if sometimes we need space of our own, you have a friend here. And I hope I keep having a friend there as well. I know things may not be going for the best, and I can't do anything from here that can make a huge difference, but if having someone to understand where's your mind at is something, well I do.
This is my open letter.
